A "Green Business Award" for Casino
28 September 2010
The "Green Business Awards" identify companies with a sincere commitment to sustainable development: those which are developing appropriate strategies and manufacturing fully sustainable products. In partnership with ADEME and Ernst & Young, the ceremony rewarded exemplary initiatives in green growth.
Groupe Casino received the Good Practice Prize, created to reward a company which has developed new practices enabling it to significantly reduce its impact on the environment.
This Green Business Award was given to Groupe Casino for putting in place its own carbon index, an environmental labelling initiative which is still a first in the food retail business in France.
Four other prizes were awarded to Bouygues Construction (Strategic Development Prize), Cisco (Green IT Prize), Greenwall (Business Creation Prize), and Phytorestore (Technological Innovation Prize).
The jury, which for this first award ceremony was chaired by Francis Mer, was made up of personalities including Corinne Lepage, and it selected the prize-winning companies from about thirty submissions.
