Casino awarded “Food Bank Social Enterprise” label
23 May 2011
The French Federation of Food Banks has launched a “Food Bank Social Enterprise” label. On 12 May it was awarded to Groupe Casino and a dozen corporate partners.
“The aim of this label is simple: firstly, to thank the corporate sponsors who support us; and to enable them to highlight their commitment to the Food Bank,” said Alain Seugé, president of the French Federation of Food Banks.
Groupe Casino was thanked in particular for its “Social Action Leave”, an original initiative which it piloted to help food banks in 2010.
Other “labelled” companies include AXA Atout Coeur, Cargill, Crédit Agricole, Kraft Foods, Malakoff Médéric, Auchan and Carrefour.
Their active support has enabled food banks to modernize their supply chain, enhance and update the skills of their teams and get their message across to a wider public, all with one common objective in mind: to help people to feed themselves and combat insecurity by providing the needy with a healthy, varied diet.
