An environmental policy that spans the entire product lifecycle
Developed in 2003, the Group's Environment Policy aims to incorporate respect for the environment into all of our activities, from the purchase and transport of goods to the end of each product's lifecycle and the design and operation of our stores.
Combating climate change: a Group priority
Determined to aid the fight against climate change, the Group has measured greenhouse-gas emissions from its operations in 2004, and then in 2009. The results have been used to identify our major sources of emissions and draft a plan of action based on three priority tasks:
- Improve building energy efficiency;
- Upgrade refrigeration facilities so as to limit refrigerant emissions;
- Reduce emissions generated by the transport of goods.
Ensuring optimal waste management
The Casino Group is continually taking steps to manage its operating waste more effectively, reduce packaging waste at the source and encourage sorting and recycling among its customers.
