Indian Ocean
The Casino Group manages operations and growth in the Indian Ocean region through its Vindémia subsidiary. Now the region’s leading retailer, the Group has 49 stores, including 11 hypermarkets, with total retail space of 94,000 sq.m.
On the island of Reunion, the Group's network of hypermarkets and supermarkets operates under the Jumbo banner. Not only the market leader, the chain is an innovator as well, notably through a loyalty/payment card that has enjoyed considerable success.
Vindémia has a very strong market position in Reunion, which accounts for more than 80% of sales, but also operates in Madagascar, Mayotte and Mauritius.
The Group is leader in the region through its multi-format positioning with Jumbo hypermarkets, Score supermarkets and Spar convenience stores.
In 2009, the Group posted revenue of €840 million in the Indian Ocean region.
