As the majority shareholder in Big C, the Casino Group has been present in Thailand since 1999. Its network of hypermarkets and shopping centres is firmly established in the heart of the country's large and medium-sized urban areas.
The Group's drive to expand in the country in recent years has resulted in a significantly larger network of stores: 12 new hypermarkets opened their doors in 2008, and 5 openings by 2012 have been planned.
In all, the Group now operates 67 large-format stores in the country with a major new shopping centre that was opened in 2009.

Big C, the standard-bearer in Thailand’s large-format retail market, is also the country’s top budget retailer. As a result, it enjoys an excellent brand image and wide recognition among consumers.
Its offering consists of quality food items, with a particular emphasis on fresh foods (fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, etc.), and non-food products such as household appliances, home accessories and textiles.

Big C is also present in the buoyant convenience store market, where it currently operates 11 Mini Big C stores.

In 2008, Big C test-launched a new concept in health and beauty retailing under the name Pure.
The banner offers a wide, up-to-date selection of beauty, personal care and pharmaceutical products.
