Jean-Charles Naouri, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Casino group, signed on October 19th 2009 the UN Global Compact with Georg Kell, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact.

It is also the expression of the will of the Group to strengthen its actions in ethics in all the countries where it is present.
Besides all the actions which it already leads, the Group announced, in front of the UN representatives, its commitment to even more actions:
• in the environmental protection, while is announced, in particular, the creation of a new activity (the GreenYellow company) in the field of photovoltaic energy, which will use the roofs of stores and car parks of the shopping malls of the Group.
• in the promotion of human rights, by strengthening the social audits realized at its suppliers, in particular in China or in India: more than 80 audits will thus be realized in 2010.
• in the promotion of the work standards, by the densification of its range of products coming from fair trades and wearing the Fairtrade Max Havelaar label, but also by a deepening of its action in the prevention of discriminations in the access to employment, or the preservation in employment of persons coming from visible minorities, of women and seniors, and also by being careful to confer an international dimension to this commitment.
In front of Georg Kell, and all the present personalities at the signature, Yves Desjacques, the Group Human resources Director, committed to make, in one year, the balance sheet of the actions led by the Group within the framework of the Global Compact.
