Our position in the market

At a time when consumer needs are becoming more differentiated, the Casino Group offers a different approach to retailing, one tailored to meet each consumer’s specific expectations. This "precision retailing" represents a contemporary alternative to the mass retail industry of the past.

Our positioning in the market is based on:
  • a range of stores in multiple formats that emphasize convenience and discounted prices;
  • a segmented product offering that is carefully calibrated for each store;
  • the strength of our own-brand products, which are especially appealing to consumers;
  • store comfort and quality, including at our hypermarkets, which are matched with customer-friendly shopping centres to create an appealing, welcoming facility scaled to human size.

Our business model

Resting on a solid financial foundation, the Casino Group enjoys a balanced asset portfolio that spans a variety of business activities (retailing, e-commerce, financial services, commercial real estate), each of which makes a tangible contribution to the Group’s expansion.

In France, the Group’s sales performance is underpinned by a blend of banners and formats well suited to both the economic environment and fundamental, long-term societal trends: an aging population, smaller households, less time devoted to shopping and a greater concern for price.

At the international level, Casino has chosen to focus its efforts on emerging countries with high growth potential, primarily in South America and Southeast Asia where its subsidiaries are industry leaders and firmly anchored in their communities.

In each market where it operates, the Casino Group’s retailing and property management divisions work in close cooperation. This tandem approach, based on enhancing the appeal of retail shopping centres and managing commercial infrastructure more proactively, offers an innovative and rewarding economic model aimed at increasing the visibility and value of the Group’s property assets.
