Ocado Group and Groupe Casino today announced the signing of an international agreement for the development of the Ocado Smart Platform (“OSP”) in France.
Ocado is the world’s leading dedicated on-line grocery retailer, thanks to its innovative OSP solution, a service platform that includes the construction of a state-of-the-art automated warehouse. The agreement between Groupe Casino and the Ocado group provides for the commissioning within two years of a CFC (“Customer Fulfilment Centre”) warehouse in the Paris region, using the handling equipment patented by Ocado (“MHE” or “Mechanical Handling Equipment”), in order to deliver Ile-de-France, Normandy and the Hauts de France.
With this international agreement, the Groupe Casino’s brands will now be able to benefit from this innovative platform. And first, Monoprix.fr, which will offer its customers the largest assortment of food products at the best levels of service and cost.
In addition to the initial CFC, Groupe Casino and Ocado will consider further development of other CFCs close to other large urban areas.
“This agreement is a major leap in terms of quality: 50,000 food items will be offered in the first stage to customers in the Greater Paris area with precise and speedy delivery at home and through a platform which makes it achievable to do this profitably. Groupe Casino is very proud to have sealed this deal with Ocado which will further strengthen the quality of service available to its customers, at the core of its commitments for 120 years.” — Jean-Charles Naouri, CEO of Groupe Casino
