Casino Group and employees join in supporting Irma victims

In response to the hurricane that devastated the islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, the Casino Group and its employees have joined together to help the victims. Donations have been made to humanitarian aid associations and 45 tonnes of health and food supplies have been sent to the disaster areas.

In early September, Hurricane Irma devastated the islands of Saint Martin and Saint Barthélemy, leaving substantial damage to people and property in its wake. The French Red Cross, Fondation de France, Secours Populaire and other humanitarian relief associations immediately geared up to bring aid to the victims and prepare for the extensive rebuilding to come.

The Casino Group and its employees also wanted to get involved in the drive, in a demonstration of their solidarity. This week, the Group shipped 45 tonnes of health supplies, food, beverages and other goods to Saint Martin.

In addition, employees personally contributed by making donations to aid associations, which Fondation Casino matched in the same amount.

As part of the support initiative, starting tomorrow, Franprix, the Casino Group’s convenience store banner, will conduct a micro-donation campaign to encourage customers to round up their checkout payment to the next euro, with the difference donated to Secours Populaire and Fondation de France.
