Needs of the population

Aware of the social and economic challenges faced by many people, the Group has implemented a range of initiatives to combat poverty and social exclusion, with a clear objective: providing concrete and lasting support to those most in need.

Solidarity Actions

Charitable collections

The Casino Group organizes 10 national charitable collections in the stores of its banners in partnership with six nonprofit organizations.

During these collections, volunteers from partner organizations welcome customers in stores and invite them—without obligation—to support the initiative by purchasing one or more recommended products and donating them to the association. The collected donations are then centralized and redistributed to people in need.

In addition, employees working at the Group’s headquarters take part in the national food bank collections organized by Banques Alimentaires and Restos du Cœur, volunteering in stores for half a day.

Each year, Franprix partners with Phenix to organize five annual food drives, benefiting more than 100 partner organizations.

Fundraising help support people in precarious situations by providing them with essential products, selected according to the specific needs of each association.
They are an important lever of local solidarity for associations, especially smaller ones, enabling them to better respond to increasing needs and optimize their distribution capacities.

In addition to customer donations, each participating store donates 50 kilograms of food products to the association.

The Group’s brands — Casino, Spar, Vival, Franprix, and Monoprix — also organize a large toy collection campaign, in partnership with organizations such as Rejoué, YOTI, and The Salvation Army. This initiative gives toys a second life while supporting solidarity initiatives.

One of Monoprix’s solidarity priorities is combating women’s poverty.

For example, for the 10th consecutive year, Monoprix partnered with  Règles Élémentaires to organize a menstrual product collection, and with Fondation des Femmes for a mother-and-baby collection.

Règles Elémentaires is the first association dedicated to combating menstrual insecurity. It distributes all the products it collects to associations and socio medical organizations that work closely with women in situations of insecurity.

PRODUCT DONATIONS

Every year, our teams mobilize to organize donations of food and non food items to help associations whose needs are constantly growing.

Goods that are close to their expiration date are donated to partner associations, in line with our commitment to fighting food waste and in accordance with regulations (Garot Law).

Under the decree of April 11, 2019, and in accordance with Article L 266-2 of the Social Action and Families Code, the Casino Group’s food donation management plan is structured around a staff awareness plan, a training plan for goods donation coordinators, and networks of internal coordinators for goods donations within each brand and in stores.

For further information on the management plan for donated goods, please do not hesitate to contact us.

local impact services

Vinted Go, secondhand goods at the heart of stores

Thanks to corners set up in Franprix, Monoprix, Naturalia, Casino, Spar & Vival stores, customers can drop off or pick up their Vinted packages directly in store. This service encourages product reuse, limits the environmental impact of deliveries, and is part of the Group’s CSR approach to promote more responsible consumption.

poiscaille, THE SEA BASKET 100% French and sustainable

As part of its commitment to short supply chains, Naturalia offers Casier de la mer, a local service dedicated to small-scale French fishing.

The service is based on a flexible subscription that allows you to choose the frequency, the contents of the locker, and the pickup point. An à la carte offer, without subscription, is also available via the online store.

The products are sourced using sustainable fishing techniques and delivered within 72 hours of being caught. Partner fishermen receive approximately 40% more than they would through traditional channels.

A neighborhood group

The Casino Group is a local retail group deeply rooted in communities, operating both in city centers and rural villages. The Group plays an active role in revitalizing local areas and strengthening social ties. Whether geographical, functional (the right product at the right time), relational (human interaction), or emotional (shared values), proximity is at the heart of the Group’s brands. Stores are evolving beyond traditional retail spaces: they now provide services that meet the needs of local communities and increasingly serve as living spaces.

Patronage

At the heart of local communities, our stores offer more than retail—they help strengthen social connections. In response to the growing risk of social fragmentation, the Casino Group Foundation supports local initiatives that reinforce community bonds. Believing that individual fulfillment strengthens the collective, the Foundation also promotes initiatives that support the development and empowerment of women and men.
